We prefer, when possible, to begin the design process in the blue print stage of a project.  This allows flexibility for the home owner to make any adjustments prior to contractors such as framers, plumbers, and electricians beginning work on the project.  After doing initial design work, I have had customers change locations of appliances, change a nursery to a laundry room and the laundry room to the nursery, and even change an office to a mud room.  These changes can require changes in location of plumbing and electrical, so it is important to make any modifications as early in the project as possible.
